The date is simply gone from the page. Disney has not announced a delay, and Blog Mickey reports the company is still targeting 2027 — but a quietly deleted year is the kind of detail this community notices, and it is worth walking through carefully.
What we actually know
Tropical Americas is the largest overhaul at Disney's Animal Kingdom since Pandora — The World of Avatar opened in 2017. The land is themed to Pueblo Esperanza, a fictional village, and it replaces the DinoLand U.S.A. footprint entirely.

What is speculation — clearly labelled
Everything in this section is reading tea leaves. Disney has said none of it.
- A slip past 2027. The simplest explanation for deleting a date is that you are no longer confident in it.
- Caution rather than delay. Epic Universe has reset what an opening-day guest expects. Disney may simply not want to be pinned to a month it might miss.
- A phased opening. Encanto could open first with Indiana Jones following — a ride-system conversion is a different kind of project from new-build.
- Competitive pressure. With Universal's Epic Universe open, a soft launch is a worse outcome for Disney than a later one.
- Late 2027, or 2028. Some fans are already saying it. The construction photos show real progress and a lot left to do.
Our own view: the photographic evidence is consistent with either a very tight 2027 or an early 2028. Removing a date is not the same as missing one, and we will not report a delay Disney has not announced.
